David’s Journey

David is no stranger to the twists and turns of life. Like most of us, he has experienced great loss, failure, and disappointments as well as epic journeys, relationship love, and worldly success. He went from a suburban immature boy to a life wanderer to a man inspired to improve himself and help those around him. Most recently, he worked closely with families striving to help their at-risk kid or young adult. 

David's journey took hold when his younger brother was suffering greatly, and his parents had no idea what to do. His brother had serious educational and behavioral issues. His parents had serious problems outside of the children. Life has a way of stirring the pot when it's time to change and grow.

As David was realizing his own deep interest in psychology in his 20s, he discovered there were therapeutic and behavioral programs his brother could go to for help, as well as his family. Gratefully, David's brother got the help he needed and David got to experience the major positive shift when the whole family gets better. 

Seeking his own life and purpose journey, David took a job as a wilderness therapist out of state in 2001. David had just finished his Master’s in Counseling and was now becoming a licensed therapist in California.  After previously spending 6 years working in an acute psychiatric hospital for teens and children, David discovered the many non-traditional forms of healing, such as meditation and experiential therapy, that deepened the young person's and parent's healing work and manifested outcomes no scientific instrument could measure. 

In 2014, David and his family went through the tragic death of his beloved wife of 23 years, Leslie, from brain cancer. Sometimes life gives you a lot more than you can handle. Thankfully, family and friends supported David and his two kids.

David is passionate about guiding young men to hear their own calling to be the best version of themselves. A young man can be in pretty dark and lonley places, and the allies and mentors along the way awaken him to his personal journey.
